Tee Pee Records Reissues Karma To Burn's "Wild Wonderful Purgatory" and "Almost Heathen"

Tee Pee Records is very proud to announce the vinyl reissues of "Wild Wonderful Purgatory" and "Almost Heathen" from legendary stoner rock pioneers KARMA TO BURN. Both albums will be released on April 6th 2010 and will coincide with Karma To Burn's April 2010 UK / European Tour.

"Wild Wonderful Purgatory" and "Almost Heathen" will each come with a 10" vinyl of bonus material including demos from the first album, newly recorded versions of 20 and 30 and all new artwork by Alex von Wieding.

Karma to Burn's "Wild Wonderful Purgatory" can perhaps be seen more accurately as a modern take on the power trio approach of such groups as the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream, and Rush. With the spacy, almost psychedelic and experimental nature present, perhaps the first two fit better. However, the hard-edged metallic fury calls to mind more closely Rush's debut. These guys have such a great skill at creating dynamic melodies that you never really seem to notice that they have opted to forego the vocals altogether on this second release. This one is a great time, whether you are stoned or not.
Wild Wonderful Purgatory

Few recording artists aspire to the stylistic purity of Karma to Burn, and nowhere is this fact better demonstrated than on "Almost Heathen". Even the title reinforces the near-decadence, and the strange but necessary elusiveness of artistic completeness. To say that Almost Heathen "rocks" would actually be a disservice to disc. It is more than a great record. It is form as function, the combination of craft and content, meditative, aloof, and sublime, if only for its singularity. Each of the ten non-sequentially numbered tracks do more than rock; they turn and roll, twist and slide, rattle and hum like large metal life forms, first rolling over desolate landscapes on four wheels, then standing upright, growing hair and pounding the rocky soil with the sun-bleached bones of Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Sleep, and Kyuss. Picking highlights is impossible, as each "song" acts more like a minutely textured tile in an all-black mosaic, relying heavily on the listener's reflection, leaving the assignment of meaning to individual imagination. Stoner/doom fans and everyone else who appreciates heavy music will all get a thrill from Almost Heathen, a significant hard rock accomplishment.

Brooklyn, NY heavy psych rock trio NAAM has announced spring, 2010 U.S. Tour dates in support of its critically acclaimed, self-titled debut.  The fast-rising buzz band will team up with heavy rockers Radio Moscow for a month long trek set to launch on March 31 in San Francisco, CA.  The tour is expected to criss-cross the country and will run through early May.

When asked for comment on the just-announced tour, NAAM bassist John Bundy exclaimed, “We can't wait to hit the road and fuck shit up. Let's do it.”  NAAM has also just announced multiple live appearances as part of the 2010 SXSW Music Festival, set for March 17-20 in Austin, TX.  A full listing of upcoming NAAM live performances follows this message.

NAAM’s high-voltage power and addictive sound has found favor with both metalheads and psychedelic rock fans alike, all of whom have talked up the group’s thundering musical muscle.  Naam was recorded on an abandoned dairy farm in New York's Catskill Mountains and delivers pitch-dark, utterly hypnotic songs that “resurrect the concept of space-rock for a new era”.  The album has met to first-rate acclaim, being championed as “a tightrope walk between hyper-distorted stoner metal bustle and Brooklyn's long-standing psych-rock hedgerow” by the Village Voice while Decibel proclaimed that the record “brings us back to the grand old days of when metal was invariably preceded by “heavy” and boogied as well as shredded.”
